The most popular attractions of the south and the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga are all on offer here on this 4-day Merzouga Desert tour from Marrakech. So don’t miss out of one of the best possible trips during your Moroccan holiday. For most people it is undoubtedly the highlight of their time in Morocco.
First of all, there are breath-taking panoramic views round every corner of the majestic High Atlas Mountains. You can take photos of yourselves with Berber villages perched on the mountains in the background to add to your album. The former palatial residence of the Glaoui family, Kasbah Telouet, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou will definitely be part of that same album as you record this unique building style. In the Skoura Oasis you can also photograph the beautifully restored, but smaller Kasbah Amredhil.
In the Valley of Roses, the wonderfully scented Damascene roses are the essence of exquisite organic cosmetics products. You can purchase some from the local co-operatives in Kla’at Mgouna. Other attractions in this area are spending a night in a traditional guest-house in the Dades Valley, taking a walk by the river or hiking with a local guide in Toudgha Gorges.
At the desert camp, you will receive a welcoming glass of mint tea – a very Moroccan greeting. And then finally you can make that much-anticipated camel ride to the big dunes. Add to the desert trip photo album with selfies wearing blue turbans and the spectacle of the sunset. Savour a dinner under a starlit sky, followed by Berber music played with the nomads runs a camp fire. This day of innumerable experiences ends with a peaceful night in a comfortable tent in a luxury desert camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi.
The adventures continue in the Dra’a Valley going off-track passed date palm trees, fortified Kasbahs and green oases. Another Kasbah, Kasbah Tamnougalt, awaits exploration before you drive over the barren, steep, rocky Anti-Atlas Mountains.
